About

Northwest Community Solutions was founded by the people of Bothell United Methodist Church. Bothell United Methodist Church has been actively engaging with the local community since their first meeting in 1885 in the parlor of Mary Ann and David Bothell. Since that time, Bothell United Methodist Church has partnered with the community to fill gaps in social services as a way to live out their Christian faith. From providing fire alarm bells and school libraries, to starting organizations that grew into Hopelink and Eastside Baby Corner, Bothell United Methodist Church has a wealth of experience meeting needs in the community with community support.

Currently the church is serving the community with an assistance program. This includes providing safe overnight parking, gift cards and serving meals. There is a free food pantry through Bothell Community Kitchen and Feeding Feasible Feasts. The church created and continues these programs to always move toward their goal of transformed people, transformed relationships and transformed conditions.

In addition, the church utilizes its physical location to invite in, and be in relationships with, community partners. Acting not only as lessors of space, managing room rentals and building maintenance, Bothell United Methodist Church actively seeks to build and engage in relationships with these partners to strengthen a diverse and neighborly community. Currently the partners include Modest Family Solutions, a BIPOC Muslim food justice program, Savangadi, an East Asian community-building program, Northshore Co-op Preschool, and more.

As a natural evolution, Bothell United Methodist Church created Northwest Community Solutions to do even more. Northwest Community Solutions is a non-religious organization that will be able to expand beyond religious boundaries for funding, volunteers and programming. The majority of the board is appointed by Bothell United Methodist Church and as required by the bylaws, will also include community members.

With Bothell United Methodist Church as an example of success, Northwest Community Solutions will manage physical space and recruit funding towards their purpose of increasing well-being in, for and with the greater community. Lessors of space will be non-profit human services organizations serving the people and needs of our local area, and Café retail establishments who go beyond a great menu by becoming an integral part of the community. These leases will provide income to support the much-needed non-revenue area of the public community gathering space which will function much like the Hangar in Kenmore or the Third Place Commons in Lake Forest Park.

There is no organization in our community that has the depth of experience in building community partnerships and management of space rental contracts than the Northwest Community Solutions founders, Bothell United Methodist Church. Northwest Community Solutions is well positioned for this exciting project.
